  • You re invited to a 125th Anniversary Celebration Open House for the Savings Bank of Lake Park this Thursday, November 21st from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lake Park Community Center. A complete meal will be served, and all are welcome to attend.

  • Please stay for a few minutes after Church next Sunday for coffee and snacks and ALSO to help bring up the Christmas trees and decorations. Hanging of the Greens will be Saturday, Nov. 30th. All are welcome to come together and joyously decorate God s house.
  • LOCATION CHANGE: Joint Thanksgiving Worship Service will be at Lake Park United Methodist Church and NOT at Harris UMC. The date and time are the same: Sunday, November 24th at 5:00 pm. We will be collecting donations of pet food during that service to help those in need to feed their furry friends.

The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park has partnered with The Food Bank of Iowa to bring their Mobile Pantry to the church on the first Thursday of every other month starting October 6th. The pantry will be open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and is targeted for families who make 185% of the federal poverty level or less.

A mobile pantry is a farmer’s market style distribution targeted toward counties with a need for additional pantry service. Mobile pantries provide an additional strategy toward bridging the food assistance gap, specifically in rural counties in our service area, by providing an additional access point for food.

The mobile pantry program has two key focus areas:

  • The primary focus is to distribute fresh produce, protein, and non-perishable items to counties in our service area where pantry access does not exist or resources are very limited – particularly to our more rural areas.
  • Second is to spotlight communities where hunger needs are not being met to build awareness of the issue and hopefully lead to more permanent solutions.

Upcoming dates for the pantry are:

  • October 5, 2017
  • December 7, 2017
  • February 1, 2018
  • April 5, 2018
