  • Bible Study Group continues every Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the Fireside Room. Everyone is welcome.
  • Notice: Volunteers are needed to sit in the office Tuesday through Friday 9:00-12:00 until the new secretary is hired. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board outside the office.
  • The church is in need of cleaning supplies: Bowl Cleaner, Angel Soft Toilet Paper and paper towels for the kitchen…if you’d like to donate any of these items please bring them to the church.
  • The Presbytery of Prospect Hill will be having Elder Training for those who wish to attend. This is a wonderful opportunity for new Elders to know the basics and is also a great refresher for those Elders who have already served or are currently serving. Information is on the bulletin board in the vestibule. The training at Lakeshore Center will be January 26, 2020 2:00-5:00.
  • Items for the February Newsletter are due by Friday, January 24th.
  • It’s not too late to get your information updated for the 2020 Church directory. Contact the office if you need to make changes. The new directories will be available at the Feb. 2nd service and from the church office after that date.

The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park has partnered with The Food Bank of Iowa to bring their Mobile Pantry to the church on the first Thursday of every other month starting October 6th. The pantry will be open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and is targeted for families who make 185% of the federal poverty level or less.

A mobile pantry is a farmer’s market style distribution targeted toward counties with a need for additional pantry service. Mobile pantries provide an additional strategy toward bridging the food assistance gap, specifically in rural counties in our service area, by providing an additional access point for food.

The mobile pantry program has two key focus areas:

  • The primary focus is to distribute fresh produce, protein, and non-perishable items to counties in our service area where pantry access does not exist or resources are very limited – particularly to our more rural areas.
  • Second is to spotlight communities where hunger needs are not being met to build awareness of the issue and hopefully lead to more permanent solutions.

Upcoming dates for the pantry are:

  • October 5, 2017
  • December 7, 2017
  • February 1, 2018
  • April 5, 2018
