From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church. When they arrived, he said to them: “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. My only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Acts 20: 17-22, 24.

This was Paul’s farewell to the church as he followed the path Jesus laid out for him. It is with sorrow and mixed feelings that I also say farewell to Lake Park. I have been called to be pastor of Second Presbyterian church in Oil City, PA starting in June. This church is much closer to the experts in the country on AMPS, the condition that Hannah has been battling lately. It is for her health that we even looked to moving. I will miss you all!

My seven and a half years here has seen great growth in the Spirit among you all. I want you to hear this because it is important—First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park makes a difference in this world and is a vital church following Christ! The ministry of the Mobile Food Pantry is vital and helps many folks from our own widows to struggling families across this area. Stay true to God’s call in this ministry. Your care and compassion, your reaching out to seniors at the school, to worship with our Methodist brothers and sisters, to VBS and Easter Egg hunt, in dinner date and community events, in elected office, in all of you involved in ministry in your everyday lives is vital. Don’t let the negatives of money or time or change or numbers ever dictate to you what you do as a congregation—stay faithful!
